Childrens Yoga

Yoga really is for everyone!

As a Qualified Children’s nurse, I am in a very knowledgeable position to teach yoga to families.

Children love to move and stretch their bodies! They are designed to do this! But our modern lifestyle impacts even the youngest children.

Sitting at desks and computers from a very early age can have an impact upon a childs’ physical development – leading to tight and inflexible hips and backs.

Many hours spent at playstation games and T.V means our children spend less time in active play – less physical and mental exploration takes place.

As a mother and as someone with a great interest in developing the health and well-being of children (to me the best form of preventative medicine) I firmly believe that yoga is something which all children, of all ages, will benefit from.
Yoga practice helps a child to develop physically, emotionally and mentally. It can also help the child to develop confidence, inner strength and individuality – all whilst having great fun!!!

I have classes for mums and babies.
These are often run via Sure Start, but with the changing Government funding is reduced for these. Perhaps you and your friends would like to have a group in someones own home to keep costs down?
Parent and baby classes are suitable for after your 6 week postnatal check, and consist of movements for both mother and baby to encourage bonding, postnatal recovery, and socialisiing at a time that can be very isolating.

I run yoga style classes which incorporate songs, and stories appropriate for the childrens age. These are held at playgroups, pre-schools, within term time at primary and secondary schools, as well as dedicated after school clubs. If you are a teacher or parent that would like yoga added to your childrens day, just call me and we can organise a group for your organisation.

Just to reassure you – the British Wheel of Yoga has a very strict code of conduct for Child Protection, and I have up to date CRB certificatation.
