Essential oils

Essential oils extracted from organically grown plants, form the basis of Aromatherapy. There are around 300 Essential Oils in use today. Although they have been in use for their medicinal benefits for thousands of years, current researchers are discovering many new benefits of Essential Oils.

These valuable plant extracts can be used for the following:
They may have anti-septic, pain relieving or relaxing properties.
They may help to boost the immune system.
Some may assist the healing of skin complaints.
Others could help to balance the hormonal system and ease problems such as hot flushes and pre-menstrual tension.

“The way to health is to have an aromatic bath and scented massage every day.”
(Hippocrates – the ‘father of medicine’).

One of the most satisfactory aspects of using Essential Oils is that they enter and leave the body without leaving behind any toxins.

Essential Oils can be used in massage, where they are absorbed into the blood circulation and lymphatic systems. They work directly on the lymbic system of the brain, which is the part associated with pleasure, pain and memory. The brain is stimulated whenever the oils are inhaled – and so are effective even when sniffed from the bottle. They will also nourish the skin when used in baths, or creams and lotions.

Individual prescriptions can be made following a consultation.
